Totals since 1994

The Marilyn Horne Foundation, classified by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, to date has reached:

  • 55,551 children across the US via 649 school programs – over 1,000 in 2006-2007 were low-income children in New York City area schools;
  • 100 exceptionally gifted young singers who were selected via audition and presented by the MHF in recitals and education programs around the country;
  • 564 college students from leading national music schools who were selected by audition to participate in the MHF’s public master classes;
  • 26 states with 262 recitals of new vocalists;
  • 56,948 audience members attending the MHF recitals and master classes;
  • 3 million+ radio listeners nationwide via syndicated broadcasts;
  • 360,000+ radio listeners annually in the Tri-State area via local broadcasts; and
  • Tens of thousands more via international webcasts.

From 1994 to May 2007 the MHF has assisted 100 vocalists, many of whom now enjoy international careers. Those from our active and alumni rosters appearing during the 2006-2007 season in New York City included:
