On Wings of Song Recital Series

Since 1995 the Marilyn Horne Foundation has presented young vocal artists in bi-monthly recitals on Sunday afternoons in New York City. Each recital is broadcast and webcast within two weeks by 96.3FM WQXR Radiofor one week after the initial broadcast.  To enhance the audience’s comprehension of the songs texts, supertitles of all song texts, including those in English, are used.  As of 2006-07, the series is produced in several other cities as well as New York.

  • The 2006-2007, recitals reached 611 audience goers of which 14% were students plus 360,000 radio listeners.  Vocalists were soprano Elaine Alvarez, tenor Richard Cox, baritone Ian Greenlaw, bass-baritone Evan Hughes, baritone Sidney Outlaw, and soprano, Erica Strauss.
  • The 2007-2008 season features mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton, soprano Nadine Sierra (the MHF Awardee at the Music Academy of the West), tenor Nicholas Phan, tenor William Ferguson, tenor Dimitri Pittas and contralto Meredith Arwady.
